Hotel TV features

Hotel TVs are specialised televisions designed for hotels, and they work differently from consumer sets. They offer extra features that both guests and hoteliers need.

The most common hotel TV features

• Hotel Mode / Menu Lock – prevents guests from retuning the TV (locked menu access)
• Max Volume – sets the maximum volume level
• Power On Volume – sets the volume level when the TV is switched on
• Panel Button Lock – locks the buttons on the TV casing
• Consumer Convertible – the set can be converted to a consumer TV and resold as a regular television (selected models)

• Welcome Page – a welcome screen (e.g. the hotel logo with a welcome message, or any other information such as a photo or video) displayed for a few seconds when the TV is switched on

• Welcome Message – a greeting shown on screen when the TV is switched on (e.g. “Welcome to our hotel”)
• Power On Source – choice of the input or tuner the TV starts on (e.g. the hotel information channel)
• Settings Cloning – settings can be copied from a master set to all other sets in the property with a USB stick or a dedicated server, without entering the rooms
• ConnectShare Movie – plug in a USB stick to play films with subtitles, photos or music
• Sleep Timer – the TV switches itself off after a set time
• Music Mode – screen off, audio only
• Energy Saving Mode – choice of an energy-saving mode (Low/Medium/High/Auto) that controls consumption by adjusting the panel backlight
• Auto Off – the TV switches off automatically if no remote button is pressed for at least 3 hours
• Channel Mixing – channels can be sorted freely; digital channels can appear alongside analogue and other digital ones (DVB-T, DVB-C, DVB-S), with no need to switch between channel lists
• Screwed Battery Cover – protects the batteries against theft
• Bathroom Speaker Output – an additional bathroom speaker can be connected
• Clock with alarm
• MediaHub compatibility – works with MediaHub connection panels (Teleadapt) for connecting portable audio-video devices: iPods, camcorders, digital cameras, laptops etc.
• Interactive Ready – compatible with interactive hotel TV systems (e.g. Swisscom). Combined with such a system, interactive models can offer a personalised welcome message, bill preview, room service, access to hotel services, express check-out from the room, film and music rental, RSS news on screen, current weather, games, exchange rates, internet access on the TV, e-mail and document editing, an interactive hotel map, information about tourist attractions, messages from reception to guests, smartphone control and much more.
• Multi Code Controller – where several TVs are close to each other, each can be controlled independently by assigning a different address to its remote
• Internet@TV – internet access on the TV screen

• Fire-safety certificates required for installations in hotels and public buildings
